ARLENE FRANCIS

Arlene Francis passed on May 31, 2001 at age 93 of cancer. She was born in Boston. She was a performer on radio soap operas in the 1930s. She was known as Radio's Oomph Girl because of her dazzling personality. She was a panelist on TV's What's My Line?. Panelists on the show could ask guests yes and no questions to find out what they did for a living. For celebrity guests, panelists had blindfolds. Francis was the wife of Martin Gabel, a Broadway actor and they had a son, Peter.
